Q. What time are worship services?
A. Our worship services are at 8:45 and 11:15 AM each Sunday morning. If you have a question about service times you can call the church office at 919-544-2872.
Q. What should I expect in worship? You have two services. Are they different?
A. We practice what some have called “blended worship.” Our worship services are fairly similar. We have a praise team that helps to lead both services with contemporary music, but we also use some of the traditional hymns of the church (this is the blended part). Our choir alternates week by week between the two services. In the service where the choir is not singing, you’ll hear special music provided by one of the many talented individuals and groups in the church. In the late service, the hymns are accompanied by both piano and organ whereas in the early service they are accompanied with piano and keyboard.
Q. Where do I park?
A. Triangle has multiple parking lots. The first lot you will see is reserved on Sundays for those with mobility issues. There is also a small lot at the side of the building, but most of our parking is located in a three tiered lot at the back of the building. You can follow the signs that say “Main Parking Lot.” If you are visiting for the first time, you’ll see we have some parking places marked especially for you.
Q. Where should I enter the building?
A. The main parking areas are behind the church and that is where most people enter. You will see a walk way that leads into our Welcome Center. Once inside the building, follow the signs to the sanctuary which is located on the second floor at the front of the building. There are stairs and also an elevator which are clearly marked on directory signs. If mobility is an issue and you come to the late service, you may want to park in one of the spaces in the front of the church.
Q. Is there child care available during services?
A. Yes, we have excellent children’s programming. Infants and toddlers are cared for in a well staffed nursery. Children are “checked in” with the help of a friendly nursery greeter who will provide you with a pager should your child need you during a service. Older children participate in the first part of the worship service with their parents. After the “children’s sermon,” they are escorted to an age appropriate worship experience just right for them. The infant and toddler nursery suite is located on the second floor of the building in room 210.
Q. How should I dress?
A. At Triangle you will find every level of dress. Some of our folks “dress up” for worship while others are comfortable in more casual wear. We really don’t make a big deal over how you dress. We just want you to come and worship with us.
Q. Are there educational opportunities on Sundays?
A. On Sundays we have a clubs program that engages our children of all ages in age appropriate learning and spiritual growth. Our middle school and senior high young people each have classes to attend. Adults will find multiple opportunities to learn together as well in the many classes offered each week. Children, youth and adult educational programs are at 10 AM on Sundays.
Q. Are there programs for my teenager?
A. Absolutely! In addition to a class at 10 AM on Sunday mornings, we have both middle and senior high groups that meet at other times led by Jeff Spainhour, our Minister of Youth & Family.
Middle school (called Major League Youth or MLY) meets on Sunday afternoons at 4 PM. Every summer those in middle school go to a week-long camp put on by Youth Conference Ministries. You may hear our young people talking about the fun they’ve had attending “The Great Escape.”
Our Senior High (called Varsity) meets on Sunday evening at 6:30 PM for their regular meetings. They also meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM for Bible Study. This group, led by Jeff Spainhour, focuses on building healthy relationships as they grow in faith together. During the summer they attend a camp called “Fun in the Son.” Every two years they also participate in a short term international mission experience. They have been to Mexico, Nicaragua and will be going to Haiti in 2013.
Q. What do you believe?
A. We are followers of Jesus, who we believe was and is God as a part of the trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe as human beings we have fallen short of God’s purpose and plan for our lives and Jesus has come to restore our relationship with God. Through a relationship with Jesus Christ we have been reconciled to God and seek to live in response to his grace. Here is a link that more fully expresses what we believe.
Q. How would I join the church?
A. Several times a year we offer an “Inquirer’s Class” led by our pastor, Ray Cobb. During the class you will hear about the core beliefs held at Triangle as well as the history of the church and how the church is governed. Attending the class does not obligate you to join but will hopefully give you all information you need to make this important decision concerning where you will worship and serve God.
Q. Does Triangle have some affiliation?
A. Triangle is an evangelical church that that belongs to the denomination called the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). It is also a part of an affinity group within the denomination called “The Fellowship of Presbyterians.” This group ascribes to certain “essential tenets” of the Christian faith. You can learn more about the fellowship by clicking here. Also make sure you look carefully at the question, “What do you believe?”
Q. Do you have small groups?
A. We have small groups who meet for Bible study and relationship building. They meet at various times during the week, some at the church and others in homes. We even have a few that meet at local coffee shops, etc. on occasion. For more information about small groups you can email Rachel Clark .
